Hi. New to site. Looks interesting.
Its almost time to bring out 1991, Bayliner Capri 3.0 Alpha one stern drive now that the snow and ice are gone. But I see gear oil on the ground. End of season service, marina said there was low fluid level and a possible leak due to a fishing line entangled in prop seal. Mechanic wants $400.00. Seems steep but what do I know. I wondered if the price seems steep or not and if there is a high degree of difficulty to repair this. I am mechanically inclined, just never worked on boats before. Do I need special tools?
Any info greatly appreciated.

We sell a seal set with a triple prop shaft seal with a line cutter. the set also has an extra shift shaft seal and one double water pump seal. If you can sneek the two prop shaft seals out with a pick, the set can be installed without takeing the bottom drive apart. the triple shaft seal for the prop shaft has an outside lip and 'o'ring to seal against the carrier and it can be changed in the future by pulling the whole seal by the lip outside.
