Default volvo drive - mercruiser bravo

removed a volvo 280 drive (1974) swapping for a mercruiser Bravo 3. Is the volvo transom cut out larger than the cut out needed for the mercruiser Bravo 3?

you can find those adapter plates on ebay, brand new, in the 500 dollar range. i bought one to do a volvo to bravo conversion and then promptly sold it on ebay (i got 540 for it, new in the box with all the hardware)as it was in the 50# range and would have looked terrible. i decided to glass in the transom and re-cut the hole for the bravo.
