What fluid and how much does a tranmission for a number III drive hold? Is it just ATF fluid?
Thanks

Most, if not all high performance marine transmissions use type F ATF.

It all depends on how big your cooler is, and if you drained it, etc. I just filled one of mine from dead empty, and it takes about two quarts initially. Then you fire it up, and set the level while it's idling. It might take another half-quart or quart.

Type F.

CP Performance has some special Borg-Warner fluid I see, but I haven't tried it.

Just confirming. I fired mine up yesterday, and the tranny took all of the third quart. It is a Huber 1450 with a 3"x 18" cooler.

Curious, why such a large cooler? My huber paperwork for my 1200's recommended like a 2"x9" cooler. I think bam recommends the same for the cyborg trannys. Might be 2x8, or 2x10, but it was fairly small. I think you wanna get a little temperature in the trans?
