Used to service the Great Lakes Casters boat. Tell tale on the tach, I was told, would show 7000rpm at times. I was told it was driven like a race boat. He ran helical gears. I am not in favor of XR gears, these days they tend to snap off a tooth. The fact that the race boat motor, is higher rpm, smaller CI, with less torque, helps the drive. I suspect the boat is built lighter?? Good shafts, large propshaft, steel towers and setup. Parts quality depends on what is being sold at any given time. All you can do is, use the best pieces, set it up properly and see what happens. You try to eliminate the weak links and hopefully the service life is within acceptable maintenace schedule.

Hope that helps.

With a N/A motor in that size boat it may hold up for some time. As Mr. Gadgets said they will hold if they are built properly. Torque is what will kill a Bravo. A roots style blower with 700HP you would be on borrowed time. I can tell you from experience!!! Know several people running a little over 700hp N/A motors and they typically get about 3 seasons out of them.
