bravo question

I know the max hp rating for the bravo drive is around 600hp but has anyone ran 700-800hp with these drives? We are looking to bring the drive into the shop to beef her up but I didn't know if anyone had experience running that much power through that drive? I know stock they won't handle it so I'm primarily looking for anyone that has had work done to them and ran them. Thank you guys.

Weak point is the gears and basically all the internals. I don't know what you mean by beefing it up? Go easy on the acceleration and re-entry. I'm assuming your talking about an XR at least? I think the XZ has a steel tower and I know the XR does so WHEN it blows you might save the tower? Start saving now, SCX's is where I want to be but there are others out there. SCX is just the easiest way for me to go from my Imco SC's.

What boat, what type of power (NA or Boost)?
I know of several B1's on smaller (24'-28') boats with at least 800hp, driven with respect, that have held up for a reasonable amount of time, with helical cut gears. One is 900hp Procharged, 24' going on fourth season this summer.
On another note, anything can be broken!

By beefing it up I meant maybe bigger shafts, forged, bigger gears. Just something to withstand more horsepower than the 600hp they are capable of. And yes it is an XR, Iv never really dealt with working on bravos so they are kind of new to me.

MR. Gadgets, it is a 24' pantera n/a hp . But the catch is it is a race boat so it will not be driven lightly lol.

You might want to hook up with these guys. I understand they are on the leading edge with Bravo build ups.

The motor I built for best buds boat is making 758 HP at 6500 rpm and over 700 HP and torque at 5300 rpm. The motor has been in the boat for four years now and no issues with the drive at all. He does not hammer it out of the hole...he will ease the power in and never flies the boat. He normally runs the boat at 3200 to 3500 rpm and everything is fine.

pslonaker..that is our issue though as we will be running this drive on a race boat.. so it will not be babied :helmet:

On a race boat...man, I dont know. My first thought is that the drive is going to die, but maybe not. Good Luck with it and your races.
