Only way to tell is to measure the run out. Hard to do with the splines/threads on the end. Should be less than .003"-.005" if I remember correctly. How much damage was done to the prop??

Do you or he have the ability to run it out of the water (IE rin on a hose)?
If so, pull the prop, start it up, and put it in gear while idling. If the shaft is all over the place, you know its gonna need replaced, or at the very least, straightened. Keep someone at the key and dont get too close.

If its been run in the water for several hours, then it should be ok. If it was bent badly and run for any length of time, it would have taken out the propshaft seal or vibrated itself to death.
