Anyone doing hole shots with there SCX drives? Someone is telling me that you have to baby these drives out of the hole?
Would like to hear from owners experiences. And what there power/boat/drive combo is and how there drives are holding up.
Trying to sort out internet myths from truths.
Thanks in adavance

Drives all the way in, tabs all the way down, run it up to 4200-4300 rpm, slowly pull tabs up till she bites and goes then tabs to neutral then dive to neutral trim. this all in about minute, no problems yet been all summer! 550 hp

What I'm trying to point out is that a drive needs to be matched to the size of boat and horsepower applied.
I think it would be pretty had to break a SCX on a 19 foot runabout with whatever horsepower.
What I was looking for was useful info from people that own SCX drives. IE what boat/HP/Drive combo most improtantly how they drive them.
If I spent 15k on a tranny or rear end for my 600hp mustang and it shelled it out i would not be very happy.
So if I spend 15 k on a drive for my boat 29 lavey 5500# dry single engine that has a meager 470hp and it wont take a hole shot I do not want it.
When I say hole shot I'm not talking about jamming it in gear and going straight to full throttle. I get in gear idling and then put the throttle down.
