X Dimension on 24x7

It's finally time to cut the transom on my 24' Excalibur. :)

Trying to figure what X dimension to go with...

I'm thinking of somewhere in the 18 - 19 " range then space it down as needed.

What do ya'll think ?

Thanks,

Doug

We went 17" on the pantera, didn't get it out much but with 550hp and a 26 bravo 1, I wouldn't up anymore than 18". Def won't be an impressive holeshot even at 17

I'm at 18 on my 1979 Pantera, I made the pad parallell to the bottom and filled the pad 1/2" at the transom so the X is 18-1/2" from the new pad.

Holeshot is awesome with 3, 4 and 5bl props!

So far 83.2MPH with a 496 Mag HO...

18.5 on transom 19.5 on box

Are you guys measuring with a square 90* from the bottom?

Prop shaft is about 3-1/2" from the bottom/pad if that's any help.

Looks like this (the pic is from the rigging) and the side water intake are now plugged (since they are above the water line at speed) and only using the lower ones.

The work you did on the bottom must have helped you a lot! Great job with all the work you did on that hull!

Depending on your exhaust, the higher you go the closer the pipes will be to your hatch.

Propshaft center is best way Standard bravo is 21"13/16 shaft to shaft

yes it is, but when measuring to cut the x, you need to measure straight up the transom perpendicular to the bottom to get the actual x dimesnsion. taking the angle of the transom out of the equation, measuring parallel with the transom would give you a longer measurement but the hole still in the same place. Just making sure were all talking the same measurement. I'll have to check how far below the pad the propshaft is.
