Default SCX -4's in classifieds

Saw a pair of SCX -4's in the classifieds, anyone have any information on why he's selling? Just curious if they didn't work for his boat/setup or what.....only 4 hours use. In Oregon I believe.

That seems like a good price.

I was wondering the same thing so when this thread died I had to call the owner. Super nice guy says he loved the scx-4 and they gained his 38 Donzi ZR 8mph. He also gained handling partially due to the sweet Hering props. Selling because he has constant engine issues (custom 1000hp) and bought a pair of mercury 700s and nxt drives as a package.

It is weird how the SCX-4 are on backorder and seem to be selling like wildfire, but years later there is still not enough positive stories about them. Not saying they are bad drives, not saying they won't work great on some boats, it just would be really nice if there were A LOT more good reviews.

I love ALL drives that do not have XR gears, yeah my Fav might be Arneson, but I still enjoy other options and hearing success stories about them.

It's only my opinion, but if he is changing power to 700's with NXT drives, why is he selling the drives without the gimbals!!!!! and if he gained 8mph and also handling, why isn't he keeping them since they handled a 1000hp !!! and change just the engines.

just my 2cents

He orginally had them listed with Gimbals and Transom assemblys. My guess is he sold those parts since the ad has changed to only show the drives for sale.

He also feels that his boat will run even better with 18" props. The SCX-4 only takes 17"

I am not surprised his boat ran good with these drives but its a easy boat to set up with surface drives since so many come new from the factory like that. Donzi boats LOVE high X dimensions and drive heights, they are staggerd, and already have a proven formula for speed with surface piercing props.

Its never a bolt on done deal , Im dealing [ or I should say Eddie is dealing ] with issues with high slip #s and prop blowout and handing , you kind of have to start over , not all boats but some .

I bought the rest of the SCX set up from him. I needed go to quad ram steering. If anyone buys the drives and needs the gimbals, I will make someone a good deal on the ones on my boat now. He wanted the 700 mercs for reliablility and they are sold as a package with the drives....

Why did you have to go to quad ram steering and what did you have before? Asking because we have a boat with 1 ram per drive steering (IMCO) with issues.
