another b1 vs. xr question
I know this has been gone over a zillion times but just to recap.
I broke a b1 at the end of the season last year, it broke the upper gears. Boat is a 96 31' scarab with procharged 502's. I was thinking about switching over to xr's but it seems like they break just as much as the b1's. So on to my question, are they really that much stronger to quantify the expense over the b1's? Im leaning towards keeping the b1's on the boat and just building some spares. If im going to break them at close to the same rate I would rather be building and buying b1's over the xr's. Am i close on my thinking? |
The XR's are stronger....theoretically....but the quality/finish of the gears leaves a lot to be desired...there is a member here working on an improved set...if you want an XR,try to find an older one...apparently the gears are of better quality...
not a drive expert,but i do run an xr...so far,no problems |
Yes, I can tell you from personal experience that the XR is quite a bit stronger.

Can XR gears be put in a XZ drive

Is it just the gears or are shafts and bearings different
