Default Upgrade an Alpha drive

hi,

I improoved my engine power to two 383 strokers (350mag before) I know the Alphas are not strong enough. is there any chance to improove them ? Stronger gears? Other ideas?
I need to stay with the alphas so every idea how to make them more reliable is welcome

Thanks

Daniel

Well....since you're determined to stay with Alpha...get ready to spend some $$$$ with this guy. He has taken the Alpha to the limit and if anyone can help you up grade an Alpha he can. Good Luck.

I see that you are in Germany and I can understand that Bravo drives and parts might be difficult to find for you. I have a friend that exports used Mercruiser parts including Bravo drives and accessories to Germany regularly. If you wish I can get the name of his contact in Germany that may be able to help you.

My neighbor repowered his 26' Sutphen with ZZ383 crate motors back in '05, ran the stock Alpha's for 5 seasons before any issues. (counter lower failure) Winter '10-'11 he installed new Gen II Alpha's & gimbals. No issues to date.

If you don't already have drive showers you will want to install them.

Thanks for your replies, the drive showers cool the drive but is the oil temp the problem ? In my opinion the problem are the weak gears.
I have a pachanga 27 with twin 383 . I think they will have around 400hp each . I know the pachanga 32 with twin 454 and alphas damage them regulary...
@sprink. Thanks There is not a big problem to get bravos here , but they cost around 13000usd a pair , and used ones are hard to find :-( I sent you a pm
