I've talked to Fixx about this a while bak and wanted a few other opinions on the topic before I go to the trouble of rigging everything up. I have a 1.50 ratio drive now and I have a 1.65 ratio laying around doing nothing. If I swap on the 1.65 is going to make a huge diffence in the acceleration or would it just be slight, assuming all other factors stay the same (ie boat, engine, prop). To get the 1.65 reay I would need to send a few bucks getting it services and checked out but if I will get some awesome acceleration I'd be down to spend the money. Boat pulls pretty hard now, I'm looking for pin you back in the seat type stuff. Should I spend the cash and find out or would it not be that great of a difference?

Going from 1.5 to 1.65 is almost exactly 2" of pitch so as long as you run the same type prop (say laser II) it shouldn't be any different then going from a 21 to a 19 with your current 1.5 ratio. If you go to the 1.65 and keep the same prop you will accelerate better but no different than the 1.5 with a 19 pitch.

No matter what you do, if your going for pin you back acceleration you're going to break an alpha.
A bravo boat I was in with 1.35 drives and 22p props seemed lazy compared to a similar boat with 1.5's and 26p

Maybe "pin you back in the seat" was the wrong phrase. I'm thinking "oh damn this thing is quick, better hold on a little " is what I'm looking for. Just trying to make the ride a little more interesting is all
