Default bravo upper noise

Hi All,

I just got the boat out- been busy... I noticed the right drive while running on the muffs has a noise coming out of the upper- i checked the oil and there was very little metal on the magnet. the oil was still green. should I worry about this?

The left side made no noise and also had very little metal on the magnet but the oil was a darker color- almost black... what would cause this? it was changed at the beginning of last summer. prob has 60hrs on it.

Thanks in advance- Ryan

left drive will always be darker oil just the nature of the beast .also the noise your hearing on the other drive
may be the thrust bearing going away at the top cap .simple to check just pull the top cap

Smokin, is the thrust bearing easily replaceable? Also, the noise goes away above 3000 rpms- wierd...

Could be any number of things including bearings. However the noise going away with RPMs (or load) leads me to believe it may be a lash/mesh problem. Check and make sure the pinion nut hasn't begun loosening up. I had one do just this.

Also put a few pumps of grease in the gimble bearing and see if it quiets down.
