Trs drives are a bit stronger than a bravo, use a velvet drive or merctrans, that eats a little bit of power. Most stock installs are so deep a 3 blade prop is all that's needed and it won't be a speed demon. Most parts are still available contrary to popular belief.
Same maintenance as a bravo just hold more fluid.

I think a major drawback to TRS boats is resale. Allot of people wont buy a TRS boat simply because they are not familiar with them. As a result there are some great deals on nice TRS boats out there.

What I found that I like about the drives are the transmissions, they shift so smooth at the dock you don't even feel it. There are bolt on replacements for the TRS's so worse comes to worse your not completely stranded. If you do enough research you can find spare parts if needed on this site, ebay, and powerboat swap shop on Facebook. Lots of guys run big power behind them so they hold up too. And if you don't see any parts for sale just ask, there seems to be guys that have them just aren't listing them for sale all the time.

They do hold 3.5 qts of gear lube each. As far as the transmissions go make sure you put the correct type of trans fluid in there I believe merc trans take something different then a velvet or borg warner. Someone here should correct me. Make sure they are a little over full when cold as they have coolers that will suck it up when running.

I was a little hesistant when I purchased my first TRS boat, and if I found another one that I like with TRS's it wouldn't stop me.

personally I would rather have a trs than a bravo. they may not be the fastest but they are fairly tough when driven properly and maintained. I have destroyed enough bravo junk to never run them again with any power or weight in front of them. I hate thay Mercury now has the choices down to bravo or dropping big coin on a speedmaster. as for the loss of speed vrs a bravo my theory is speed is no good if you are on the trailer all time.
