wouldnt arnesons solve all your guys problems and save you money and time?

I switched to the SCX uppers last year. Did helmet change and reservoirs kept my Merc Shortie lowers. Had to custom build steering plates to match up to my hydraulic steering rams. I'm running Merc 600 SCI's and used to eat XR's for lunch. Made it through entire season with no drive issues. "Priceless"!!

Very Nice! Yours is a single engine ? What was the issue with IMCO? I put an SCX on my single 29' and am VERY happy with it after first season.

Yes single engine, but I am running SCX4 completely different drive. At first prop was blowing out,the cure was just adding torque tab to the skeg for single application. This drive is basically a surface drive.

Great glad you got yours straightened out. Are they that different ? I know the cases are different. But I thought most of the internals are the same.

Best band for the buck I would say imco SCX4.Reason I went with it over say nxt or 6 drive was no transmission which translates to less weight and maintenance, and can still handle I believe over 1600 hp,and use up to 17"Dia prop. JMO

Scx4 can NOT handle 1600hp and IMCO implies NO warranty. I thought the advertised HP rating was around 800-900. I personally believe that they will handle more then 850 but as the power goes up the life expectancy goes down. For example 850 HP will last let's say 300 hours (which is great) but 1200hp might only last 100 hours. No different then a XR behind a 496 vs a 600.
Congrats on the new drive and looking forward to hearing more on how your setup runs. |
