bravo1 gimbal rebuild/replace

I have a 88 seebold with a bravo1. While removing the gimbal assembly to replace my transom I found a hole corroded through the transom plate. My question is, do I find another housing and rebuild my existing set up or do I just buy a new assembly from transom out to the drive and just start over all new. I have found complete setups for around $2000 including rams and inner plate. How much should I expect to spend to rebuild what I have? My transom housing is shot but my gimbal ring is about 2 yrs old and the bell housing looks OK but my rams are seized. What would you do in my situation rebuild or replace? As of now stringers, transom, floors and engine are new. Thanks for the help

If you can find good stuff for around 2K, I would do that. I rebuilt all my stuff 2 years ago and it gets time consuming and costly. Always remember your time is worth a lot and you could be doing other stuff.

This is what I had found
http://item.mobileweb.ebay.com/viewi...d=360800926047 looks like what I need.
Also found some used units for around $800 but I'm afraid I'll be replacing parts and wind up spending the same as new although they say there in working order. Is it worth parting out the good parts from my assembly or just keep the spare parts?

Thanks for the link Coast Mar Exp that seams like a real good deal. Are all bravo assemblies the same? Will my B1 fit any gimbal housing or did they change over the years?

mercury makes 3 different gimbal assy, std, magnum and hp the std is the cheapest and probably the one in the ad,the gimbals are cheap enough and the old ones not worth rebuilding

Will my bravo 1 fit the standard, Mag and HP gimbal housing? I hope to upgrade my drive someday but for now my B1 is what I plan to use.

Yes, your std B1 will fit all the gimbals, as will an XR. I would recommend going with the HP gimbal..

Not to sound stupid but, If all bravo gimbals will fit all bravo drives what's the difference between the standard, mag and hp?
