i was wondering how often you need to go thru a pair of #6 drives running 900 hp in a heavy boat thats run fairly hard.

what is cost to have a set freshened up? thx, rm

275 hrs. 500's or 1100's, doesn't matter. that is what i was told by brian jackson of offshore outdrive. i figured they would last a bit longer than that but they sure didn't !

Behind turbines you should be going through them at about 60 hours. Mine will be going down to Colabella this week and it's $1k in labor to tear down, inspect, NDT the parts, and rebuild. When you need gears or shafts it starts getting expensive.

prices are all over the board but for uppers, bearing and seals 8-15 ish. every shop is different and depending on parts that are obscenely overpriced i'm sure all quotes will be different

A few years back, John @ Dollar said they see pitting of the gears at 150 hrs (1075 power)

I blew up a number six at about 100 hours. I was running 1075's in a cigarette. I used Collabella and was very happy.

Very insightful information from all. Not as bullet proof as I once thought.
