Default Konrad conversion on a scarab kv

Looking for info on any body that has done the conversion on a 38 scarab kv.I bought the boat minus engines and drives ,it had arneson 7m's with boxes 1000hp 540's .I am putting my 600 hp motors and fresh trs drives out of my 30' scarab in it ,going to do the conversion next year .Need to know if the konrad extension box (one with out cylinders) will cover the hole in transom .As of now i am making a alluminum adapter plate with the arneson box pattern to trs pattern to mount the trs drives ,the trs studs fit inside the hole in the transom with exception of the top 2 studs .I have to make inner transom plates also ,using motor plates for and aft to support motor .Need to know x dimension guys are running so when i convert to Konrads in the future i am in the best location .Also if a stand off box will work with my set up using this hull ?

I think some pics of what you're working with might help. I'd like to think now would be the time to put the Konrads on it if you can swing it. With 600's and TRS on a 38 KV you'll probably break a TRS or two in the meantime. I dont think the 88's had a notched transom. Ext boxes would be nice with a raised X dimension..

theirs a set up on powerboat swapshop on facebook ,,he wanted 5k for it and another member on donzi.net has a setup 540 as well for 4 k so between both of them you can have both for 9k..just satin or just switch to a set of #5's foe a few more grand..

Korad 540 Outdrive. Like New. Less than 5 hour. Still has break-in oil in it. TRS Replacement. Comes with the helmet for TRS conversion. List for about $10,000. Will part with for $5500 OBO. 402-616-6985

mike trusedale konrad 540 as well,,might wanrt to ask what gears ratio tho on both.. 708-912-4283

You should do more research on Konrad's before you waste your money. Search right here on OSO and you'll find several people that had Konrad failure with low hours on them. I wish I had! Every drive has failures but the ratio of Konrad's in performance applications that failed is staggering. I would bet all my chips that a TRS will out live any Konrad out there. Find some 3A's or 5's and you'll be a much happier boater.
However I did convert Konrad box back to Bravo if you still need measurements I can get them for you.

you can do a complete #5 speedmaster package on the back of that boat cheaper than Konrads. send a pm to Bck on here he has #5's on his and can hook you up with all the measurements you need. my buddy has everything you would need to put 5's on that boat, gimbles, drives, steering.

I have spoke with a few guys here and i have already bought speedmaster gimbles going to use 3's and down the road when i put bigger power in the boat going to use 3a's. With the availability of gears and shafts now speedmasters i think are the way to go .
