port drive always trimming in trailer mode
#2
My drive does the same thing though I have a single engine boat. Drive will trim all the way up without stopping without engaging trailer mode in the switch. I assume the trim limit sending unit on the drive is bad. I tried adjusting mine and it made no difference even turned as far as I could turn it both ways. Mine is the newer sealed style so I could not take the cover off and check for water and clean the contacts. See if the sender has moved and try adjusting it. If it is the non-sealed type (I think these are for Smartcraft engines?) take the cover off and check for water and clean the contacts up and see if that makes a difference.

whaddya mean goes all way up? u touch trim and it keeps climbing till it is all the way up? or it'll let you keep trimming it until it is too high? first is a bad solenoid that doesn't release. second is a bad trim limit that has been bypassed. when trim limit dies it usually dies so trim doesn't run up at all till u hit trailer button.

Usually it is because someone jumped the sender because it went bad and stayed "open",or the wires rotted in half. When they go bad normally you can't trim up unless you use the trailer button,,so it gets a jumper near the pump where it plugs in .

I've owned my boat since new so it has not been jumped by anyone. I can follow the wiring up through the transom assembly and I do not see any breaks in the wiring. So if what you say is true then I must have a break in the wiring where it passes through the transom assembly or between the transom assembly and pump.
