Default 30 Superboat drive questions

Morning all. I just built a 2008 30 y2k w a 540cu 650hp the drive I have currently is a Xr w 2" sport master. A lot of people say a sport master or shorty won't work. The guy who had the boat before me had a 525 an spun a 30 bravo stock Xr.boat went 86 but 82 everyday. Ok well I just installed my drive an it looks like the prop shaft is about 1 1/2 below bottom does that seem high for a step bottom? have a few props to try. 29 6 blade, 27 5 blade, an a bunch of bravo 1's. I really don't want to have to switch lowers if possible.any suggestions would be great. Or if someone has spacers for sale let me know. [email protected].

Thanks guys.

Trial and error is the only way to know for sure, but I'm thinking that's going to be way too high. The point of the stepped bottom is to aerate the water and for lack of a better term "more slippery", which is the opposite of what the prop needs. Even if you get the props to hook decent you'll prob start throwing blades since the prop will be surfacing. I have no experience with a y2k but a decent amount with props and drive height.

Singles need to be a bit low. Your 11/2" below bottom propshaft is where both my single engine boats are.

Not sure about power, 29x17.5 4 blade cleaver runs real good a little slow to plane if you don,t use the tabs but I think thats more the prop. Most props that I've tried with more pitch and the boat starts to lean, I've tried 3 blade props with no luck, bblades said I should try a 5 blade, I already have a ton of props I bought for this boat and it runs real good with the 29,speed, handles, acceleration is crazy so I don't even know if I want to buy another, I do hit the rev limiter with the 29 but I just never run wide open.

A speedmaster drive sits back further than a bravo and completely changes the characteristics. The 17.5" diameter prop allows a much higher drive height than you could ever get away with, with a bravo based drive.
