Default Speed difference between Bravo 1 and Bravo 3

How much of a speed difference would one expect to see between a bravo 1 and a bravo 3 on the same boat with the same power? Trying to decide which lower to go with when converting from an alpha.

The B3 will hit a wall around 60 mph or so.. and no matter what power you put in front of it, supposedly it won't go much faster. But the B3 can carry the bow at slower speeds and get you on plane better, etc.
So is it a heavy, not so fast boat? Or a light fast boat?
Hope that helps.

I believe the Bravo 1 would be faster if it is for a performance boat. However i also believe that you will have a very limited prop selection with the bravo 3 compared to the Bravo 1. Just a thought

Bravo III use to be rated by Merc up to 70 mph and this was before they so called have better props on the market currently . Today it is listed up to speeds of 65 mph for single or twin apps. They list up to the 525 hp but if you go to Merc Racing I think they even list up to the 565 hp (Bravo III XR). Also they claim up 370 hp for diesel apps.

For speed and simplicity go B1. if you want a tank go B3. my B1 is faster top end than my buddies B3 but he has a lot more low end grunt. Also a B1 in way simpler, only one prop vs counter rotating props. The B3 sounds like its going to explode

I'm going to get murdered here but here goes...my Mariah has a B1 and hits 55mph with a stock 454 330hp. I wish I had chosen a B3 for my intended usage which includes tubing, booze cruseing and short day trips. The reasoning for this is the much better holeshot and midrange performance, I also can't stay on plane below 2800 rpm and I am applying pressure with my tabs. Top speed is only 1 factor in boat useage unless it is your only concern. Both outdrive are built well and you can change props on a B1 for $500 And have unlimited choices vs a B3 at $1500. Just my 2 cents

Not a b3 but I had a Volvo duo prop on my boat which had a 383 stroker and small B& M blower , it was a rocket out the hole , ran it hard for 20 years never broke apart from a freak wave lifted me up once as I was driving it onto trailer and I bottomed out on the ramp and broke the gimle ring . Forgot to mention the V24 bat boats that race here run around 75mph .
