How much oil should I put in the tube? Check plug is at the top of the tube but I would think if you fill it full when the oil heats it would push the seals out.

Just fill it to the top of the plug. The plug is at the 2 o'clock position so there is room for expansion..

Any gear oil is fine. Any oil is better than no oil. You can use the Merc HP oil, RedLine Oil, or any other make of gear oil.
