Default Hydraulic steering on Volvo SP outdrive

I'm rebuilding my 27 Magnum sedan and switching from the original Volvo/Chrysler 270 outdrives to a pair of SP-A drives and would like to run external steering, but I see no way of mounting the rams to the drive. I e seen than on the upper cap of the 270-280 style drives but the SP uses a different style cap. Anyone ever done this before?

Is there an area behind the shift cover you could drill and tap for a mounting plate/clevis?

I'll look into that. I was thinking a plate between the top
Cover and the top of the transmission and milling down the top
Cover the thickness of the plate. I would obviously have to re shim the upper gear set, but if I could do something near the shifter all I'd have to do is trim the cover.

Behind the shift cover on the "floor"? Could that be drilled and tapped for a wing plate?
You will have to notch out the cover a bit to get it back on.
