Failures with New Mercury Hi Performance gear lube in Bravo drives?

We recently started running the new lube. While testing admittedly used drives we have had 2 failures both under one hour of running on this lube. Both drives were well within the service window that has worked for us in the past. Both failures were bearing's in the uppers.
Thanks
Steve

When you say "new", are you referring to the black bottle/white label stuff? I bought Mercury High Performance Gear Lube last night and noticed it is a straight 90wt, not 80w90 like my leftovers from last season.

Edit- the leftover Premium is 80w90, the High Performance Plus from last year is a 90wt, but the label has definitely changed.

This is not the green stuff. I have actually raced on that many times with no complaints.

This is the new gear oil that merc came out with about a 1.5 years ago. I think it retails for 18 dollars per qt. It is not the greenish blue color like High Perf gear lube is. It is touted across the board for Bravo's to the dry sump outdrives for Mercruisers. I have no idea who makes it for Merc as of current but do know who makes the other 2 gear lubes offered by Merc..

the high performance oil is the green stuff the same that has been around for years, the new oil is called racing gear lube used in all products built and used merc racing bravo, nxt ,6-8 speedmaster have not used any in bravo yet,i wonder if it doesn't mix with the old oil well i have tried all the other stuff amsoil marine ,amsoil severe gear, bravo shop blend torco etc, none seem to be the magic formula to make the bravo last it all depends on what seems to work for you the best, also a good idea to change often and if you see too much metal on magnet tear down and inspect
