Stellings Extension boxes
Correct me if I'm wrong but is Stellings out of buss? I'm in need of a few parts for mine. I'm looking for the two water necks inside for the raw water from the lower and I am also in need of part numbers for the bearings in the pillow block for the shafts. mine are the drive shaft type if that makes a difference?

Same company. Please let us know what happens. Eventually I am sure I will need another pillow block. |
Hey Keith, No number for that co so I left a note on their web site. I found an old number for Randy 559-485-9394. The number is still active with a recording stating that parts for the boxes are available but you needed an extension number to leave a message. After several tries I punched in the number 4000 and got a voice mailbox and left a message. I will let you know where this goes. As for the pillow block itself, I believe that it is a Borg Warner part available from a commercial truck parts house. Not sure on the flanges or splined parts for it though. Bill

I believe the water neck is the same as a Merc one.
I think its also possible that Merc and Stelling used the same stuff as pictured here. http://www.mercruiserparts.com/Show_...nts%28Bravo%29 Not 100% sure on either thing though. |
I have a set new bearings that came whit my box ,will look them up tommorow and shoot a pic of it for you whit part # if there on
|
WTF!!!! That pillow block is $850 bucks!
|
I will have one made at a CNC shop cheaper than that!
|
Thanks Griff, By the looks from that pic, Merc uses a pillow block that is water cooled? The Stellings boxes(at least the ones that came with mine) are not water cooled which is a better design. Keith, like I said, I seem to remember when I first installed these that when I looked into it the Stellings pillow block was an off the shelf Borg Warner part. Bor, I would appreciate any info you have as well. Now the question is if I can get the thing out without removing the drive which I cant do myself. Trying to nurse this thing to the end of this season. I think I have the room in the box to get to the bolts after I remove the drive shafts. Then I might be able to slide it forward enough to get it off of the drive spline? There's always hope?

Griff, do you have a pic of the water neck by chance?
|
Did you try everett performance.

I sent them a contact question but haven't heard back yet. Thanks!

Yes Randy closed up about a year or two...long gone.
|
Yea Griff, that would be the same bolt pattern for sure. I think I can work with that and for under $20. each I'm sure I can make it work, Very helpful. I know Randy closed up but like I said the number is still active for parts but getting a message thru was a little wonky. Randy must have sold the box design to Everett. Their even calling their boxes Stellings
|
Have you talked to Everett? I am curious if they have it in stock. I hope they have all this stuff or can get it.
The pillow block with bearings was about $450 complete with bearings years ago. I think... |
Not yet, I'll probably use the Merc water necks and modify them if theres any clearance issues. The Stellings ones had a few more bends in them but I like to machine everything out to accept AN fittings and braided lines anyway. The bearings I just needed the numbers anyway. I can press them in and out myself. I did them awhile back but like a dumazz I tossed the old ones in a box and don't know which are which. Why would you need to replace the pillow block itself? Pretty much a solid unit to damage it enough to need replacing.

I keep a spare one. If you hear the bearings going, when necessary, you can just pop the carrier in, shim it, put the drive back on and you are back on the water in an hour. |
Ok here we go ,took some pics of the bearings and waterneck of my stellings box

Your water neck is completely different from mine. Mine is just like the Merc one and uses the hose for the bends.

Thanks Bor and griff. Looks like the Merc water neck will work. Bor, do you have the drive line set up with drive shafts or the set up using the long bravo shafts? I wonder if theres a difference in the bearings? Also are both bearings the same? I'm running it until the end of this season, just taking it easy. Winter project will be pull the drives for bellows, lower gear change to 1;36, paint and bearings.

Fire ,
I have the drive line set up and look like the bearings are the same besides the one is a closed one and the other is open ball bearing but I don t have measured them . Also looked at a merc bearing carrier I have for my driveline set up that have the same bearings in it ,one closed and one open . hope this helps |
I know this is an older thread but I am also in need of the Stellings water necks. Anyone know if there is a NOS source for these or what path could be taken to replace with Merc parts? Thanks!
