Default Imco drive on merc bell housing

What mod needs to be done (if any) to put an imco drive on merc bell housing? If there is a mod, is the bell housing only good for an imco drive from then on or can a bravo be interchanged/put back on?

Which Imco are you going with? I believe you need the Imco bell housing for the SCX or SCX4, not sure if the Mercury bell housing is the same for the Imco SC drive. Best bet would be to check out Imcos website or give them a call.

My question is in reference to the SC...and mainly I'm wondering if a bravo can be swapped back and forth afterwards?

you can put a sc on a merc bell back and forth no problem ,I have a sc -3" on my boat after a blackhawk and a normal bravo 1 so I should no

and for the scx you need to swap the bell for a imco one like getwet say

I had read on a previous thread that you need to cut the bottom of the flange to make a SC fit, so you can still put a bravo back on after the flange is cut for the imco? This is what is confusing me? Do you just cut off the gasket where it was cut on the bell housing?

Thanks

The Imco SC will bolt right up. You may need to change the gimbal bearing to fit the XR size input shaft.

No need to cut anything when bolting on the Imco SC.

I had to cut the lower ear off the bottom of mine to clear the 45 degree fitting that supplies the internal cooling to the drive, which is tapped into what would be the speedo feed coming from the lower. That ear is for the exhaust if you have silent choice or standard underwater exhaust. Wont hurt a thing after you cut it, you only cut about half of inch off.
