I seem to remember reports of excessive (define excessive) failures of the XR uppers. Anyone know if Merc addressed it?
525 hp in 4000 lb. boat single screw.
X has been reliable for me thus far but if I ever have a failure would probably consider moving to XR upper or lower depending on where the failure occurred.

If the X is working for you, leave it alone

My experiences are that the only thing that they're addressed over the years is the price, 10 years ago an upper set was $ 1400, now there nearly $ 2k
