Changing a boat back to bravo. I have 2 transoms. The orig 00 unit that sat in salt over a decade, or a 93 setup lived on a trailer, very little time on it, hardly needs a set of boots. Is there any reason that would justify rehabing the later model unit?

I just replaced 1992 standard transom assemblies with modern magnum assemblies. Bolt pattern was same and I even reused the original transom plates because I didn't remove the engines. My '92 assemblies used bolts in the bottom holes that went from the outside of the transom assembly all the way through the inner plate. The 2nd from the bottom was also bolts that came in from the inside. The top 4 were studs. On the new assembly it was 8 studs which appeared to be a better design in regards to sealing out water as the older style lower bolts had o-rings / gasket on them that could eventually leak, luckily mine didn't. Other than that it all seemed what and what.
