Default Gimbal...

Have to redo the gimbal due to a broken u-bolt. So I've heard that when you reinstall the top nut on the hinge pin there is .010 of measured thickness. Ok well where do you measure that at? What's the correct way to make sure it's all installed correctly?

We talking TRS here? Also I am assuming you are referring to the nut on the upper swivel pin. There is a washer on the swivel pin between the gimble ring and the gimble housing. You measure between the top side of the washer and the gimble housing. Spec for a TRS is .005-.007

Tighten up the nut til the ring is snug against the housing, where there's resistance to turning it,
Then tighten the clamp nuts to spec's, then loosen the nut slightly and with a soft hammer,
smack the top of one of the ears on the ring, then measure between the the washer at the lower pin and the housing or ring.

Spec is .002-.010"

Ok, more questions on washer placement...So it goes..on the swivel pin. Its nut, then washer, then steering arm, washer? There is no washer between the gimbal ring and transom assembly?? Then on the bottom where the pin goes there the washer goes on the bottom between the transom assembly and gimbal ring??

correct on the top, washer on each side of steering arm,...no washer on the outside on the top... at the bottom of the ring, the washer goes on the top side of the ring
