Default Upper Drive Gear Bearing

I'm trying to reassemble an upper that I have am having an issue with the driven gear bearing. I read that Koyo bought Torrington so I assumed that The Koyo B3214 was the same as the Torrington B3214. I cannot, no matter what I do, get the Koyo bearing to fit not he stock merc race. Have any of you replaced the driven gear bearing? And if so what bearing did you use. Is it possible to use a different race? I'm trying to get this drive done ASAP so any suggestions are welcome.

I've gotten them from John @ the bravo shop in the past.

Was it the same bearing as I listed, Koyo B3214? I'm really curios if I somehow have a bearing that isn't to spec?

Also, is there a special tool to remove the driven gear bearing? I'm not seeing anything listed in Merc's manual and it fits tight against the bottom of the gear I don't see how you can get anything under it to pull it.

I just ordered a new B-3214 from the Bravo Shop this morning. I talked with John and he said he has never seen one that was not to spec. I'll be interested to see if the new bearing works. Either way I had a good bearing in an XR gear, so I took it to a local machine shop to replace the bad bearing. I want my boat in the water this weekend, and that was the only way to assure it will happen. Thanks for all the info guys!

I received the new B-3214 today. The race fits perfectly, so for whatever reason the other bearing was indeed faulty. Jaaay Teeee, I ordered the tool you referenced. I hope this is the end of my Bravo tools. Again- thanks for the help

I press that bearing out with a homemade tool. You say the bearing wouldn't fit the race, do you mean with the bearing out, it wouldn't fit over the tower with the race on it?? I recently installed a new gear set and found one of the 2314 bearings would not rotate. I pushed it out and back in and it rolled freely after that.
Glad you got the problem solved for the weekend.
