The stickers on the the Drive is the only difference that I'm aware of. A Bravo 1X is a Bravo 1X other than a swept or straight back. I just converted one of my drives that was originally a diesel upper to an XR and everything was the same as the other that was a standard X.

I had a Merc. dealer tell me a Diesel X, is a stronger drive built for the higher torque output.

Thanks

Yes that is exactly it. There is absolutely no other difference. While they do list different part numbers for the gas & diesel drives when you look at the parts breakdown there are no diesel parts show.

I don't plan to snipe it. I was just curious as it's an OL model and was wondering if the diesel version had better gears than the standard OL Bravo?

If it's an X it has a steel tower. If its an X swept back it will also have the XR ribbed top cap. It's easy to tell if its a real X by looking at the pinion retainer ring. If the ring has holes for the wrench its an X or XR. If it has slots it's a standard case- aluminum tower. Hope that helps you!
