Default Difference in #4's

Does anyone know why these two lowers look different? They are both number #4's (don't know the years) one RH and one LH. Curious if the difference in the oil passage at the front of the drive identify's anything in particular or is just the difference between LH's and RH's?

By the way I happen to looking for some #4 parts to build a set of spare drives, let me know what ya got.
