Default Setting lower backlash
Specs for lower drive gear backlash are 012-,015". Does HP have any affect on whether I go with .012 vs .015 or somewhere in the middle? I'm at .015 now, should I just leave it or tweak it some more. 800hp, heavy single boat.

Go to lower side. With that HP by the end of one season it will most likely at .015 or more

.015 will work,,, I would use Amsoil Severe Gear 75-110 Synthetic Gear Oil, it has a high shear resistance & Amsoil will run cooler also., compared to Hi Perf. Merc. oil.
