Default Spontaneous leak from Bravo 1 transom assembly speedometer nipple

The unused nipple, I have gps, on the engine compartment side literally just started flowing a steady stream of water into the bilge. Thoughts? Solutions?

I would remove the nipple and install a 1/8 NPT plug from the hardware store

Thanks. I'll give it a go.

I'm just at a loss how it opened up. My undestanding is this connection is supposed to be fail safe. Meaning it doesn't allow flow when unused. The Bravo 1 HD assembly is maybe two years old. Here are some pics, if links work.

The fitting is below the water line when sitting. Appears to have a hole in the line coming from the fitting. If the hose on the outside is connected to the drive, then when running the pressure increases. I have mine plugged because its not used

Thanks again for the responses. Very helpful. Appears it should have been capped when the assembly was installed.

Check the bilge for the fitting. My HP has a brass fitting that is capped off for GPS usage.

Can't find anything in the bilge. Do you have a picture or possible even a link where I could get a cap for the nipple?

Having trouble getting the nipple off. It is recessed enough I can't get a wrench on it. Does anybody possibly know the size socket that would be needed to get the nipple off in order to install the pipe cap, as suggested above?

An 1/8 NPT should be 7/16

To find the pipe plug to seal it off, just go to any hardware store and ask for an 1/8 NPT brass pipe plug. Don't know where your at but here is one on ebay
