Right now going on 3 months and still waiting on teh lower , the prop shaft impossible to find. Second set of lower gears since they are worn out...
Thought I was buying a drive that would not need any work ..WAP WAP WAAAAA!!!

Good luck finding decent parts for a drive that went obsolete 20 years ago.

Did you find a propshaft? I have one that has very minor pitting around the seal area that I can have my machinist install a speedy sleeve on and it would be perfect if it's something you'd be interested in?

Also what is your propshaft height above/below the bottom? I have designed something that is alittle unconventional for big shaft 3a-4-5s that has shown some pretty promising results propeller wise. PM me if it's something you're interested in thanks

With your luck you'd have the same problem with m8's.
Has Joe had any issues with his?

I have not had any issues with mine, other than the propshaft seals dry rotting and taking in some water. Mine are basic small shaft #4's. They don't have the supposedly stronger straight cut upper gears. Since I have had them, they have either had "coastal" brand gear lube from autozone, or "mystik" gear lube from farm & fleet. '

Sent one of them in last year to Collabella, since it was getting some water in it, and a bit of fuzz on the magnet. He tore it down, saw some minor pitting on the spur gears, flipped them around so they had a new face to ride on, and put it back together.

That being said, my boat is lighter than Dans. My engines make less power than dans. My propshaft height, isnt as high as Dans.

He has had some chitty luck with them, no doubt. Its a catch 22 though. Im pretty certain that if his boat had bravos, 900hp a side, rough water, a heavy azz old 38 Flatdeck, ran hard, they'd probably have a hard time making it thru a long weekend without busting to pieces. :panda:

I manufacture and supply, straight cut net forged upper gears for the #3,3A,4 and #5 SSM drives in a 1.31:1 ratio. These gears are manufactured by the same company that Mercury used when they were still selling these drives. I also have, using the original Mercury blueprints, propshafts and lower gear sets for all the above drives.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions about your gear needs. Check out my classified ads on OSO.

I have #5's on mine and like Joe the only issue I have ever had is the propshaft seals drying out and leaking. My boat is like Joe's but I do have boxes on mine and I think my drives may be higher than Joe's? Not sure if Joe has boxes on his or not. I have 900 Hp NA motors feeding mine like Dan has. But again my boat is lighter than his as well. I can't complain about them as I haven't had issues like Dan. His luck was the luck I had with my last few bravo boats.

I dont have boxes on mine. If I remember, you also have a straight bottom 38 Fever as well? Best I've seen so far is 96.5, turning 17x28 four blades to 6200rpm. I'd love to hear more about your setup. Drive height, props, top speed, etc. Not many of these setups around. Tried PM'ing you but your inbox is full.

I ran #5 drives on a Black Thunder 43SC. Heavy boat 12,000 to 14,000 lbs depending on fuel and people. 900HP blower motors and 750HP NA motors, Never had an issue with the drives in 8 years. The OL 37 you posted is a lot of high $ hardware for the asking price. I have ridden in a straight bottom 37 and they are an amazing ride. It was on my short list before my wife saw the cabin on the Black Thunder. After that it was game over.

Anyone know;
1. Collabellas contact info / email - I googled, kind of hard to find.
2. Best source for seals to rebuild SSM #5 drives (or a rebuild kit?)
