Best Drive for 1000 hp engine

What drive can you recommend for a 1000 hp engine application. Many merc are rated to only 750 hp
What about the scx drives?

Anyone?

Look at all the big power boats on here and that will give you an indication. Get the right tool for the job. I'm running 600SCIs thru XRs and I'm on borrowed time all the time. If I spent the time and $ to run 1,000 HP, I would be looking for #6, #8 or Arnesons, Bravo style just is not going to hold up.

Okay thank you, I looked all over the internet to see the HP limit of the #6 but I can not find it.Do you have any idea?
I will have 2 of 950-1000

Also what is the NXT drive ??

VoodooRob 06-28-2017 01:08 PM

NXT was used behind many 700SCI packages and optional for the 600SCI, it was in between a Bravo XR and #6. The NXT was discountinued by Merc in the past few years. I have read posts on here once the horsepower elevates from 800HP on the NXt reliability takes a hit. Anything from Merc Race now with 700hp or more gets #6 or #8. click this link to Mercury Racing 1100 engine, they recommend M6 or M8, 1100 | Mercury Racing

Or you can look into these from X Power, they are Bravo style have never seen them in person though, the cost is high but they look to have many benefits www.xpowerdrive.com

Anything that doesn't have the words Bra or Vo in it! :D

Arneson
M6
M8

Anything else and you are wasting your time and money. I put 5s on and somewhat regret it only because they are obsolete and very pricey to replace if I bust a housing. BUT, i did it for half of what the big drives cost. 5s would do what you need, but again, obsolete.

I have arneson 7 or 1600 drives on it now and there are no parts, at least there are no cv joints or ujoints made. I was thinking to change to Mer #6 drives but I like the idea of the arnesons very much.Tell me is there a noticeable difference in speed and fuel eficiency.I am slipping away from the Arneson light someone pull me back before the #6 takes me and my wallet.
