Default Volvo dpx drive power steering options

Hi guys, I have mechanical steering going into the hydrolic power steering ram on my 2002 Volvo dpx drive.

there is a rediculous amount of movement in the teleflex helm, heaps of play in the steering and my ram is leaking fluid!

i want to replace the lot but hoping for suggestion.

can I do something whereby I get rid of the Volvo power steering ram and have a separate aftermarket system?

The boat is a wooden donzi 16 replica.

really appreciate some good advice.

cheers
stu

Ayuh,.... The most sensible up-grade would be goin' to a full hyd system,....

Hydraulic helm, 'n steerin' cylinder,... No motor mounted pump necessary,....

If you really have a DPX drive, the external hydraulic steering cylinders are already mounted/being utilized? You have a Brasil Valve on standard power steering rack that is working the external side? If so, you only need a hydraulic helm, and to plumb the system.
