Default Blown Bravo 1 Lower Unit - HELP

I have a 1997 502 mag mpi/Bravo 1 set up that has seen 300+ hours with me behind it. It doesn't get abused, relatively mild build with shy of 500 hp and lightning headers. I'm driving along at 40 MPH and it blows in deep water. Gears gone and a nice horizontal slice down the port side of the lower unit. OK so....options: New=not likely to spend that cash.... Used=works when it works, can be a disaster....... Or, SEI brand new with warranty. To be clear, this is likely my lower unit only.....Thoughts?

Read good reviews here about SEi other than their coating being junk compared with Merc's OE Imron.

Lots of stories about upper blowing right after lower repair because of debris in oil killing the upper. So you gotta practilly disassemble upper to get the pieces of lower out
