Hey guys,
im looking for some tips/ advice on how to strip the paint off of my lower drive. I’ve done a search on here but did not find much on specifics from anyone that did it themselves. My boat only runs low 80s as is, so I realize any performance gains would be minimal, but I really like the look better than painted. I found one application with exact same 29 as mine, and the guys swears he gained 1-2 mph. He used 80 grit sand paper on his DA sander. He has reprimed and sanded 3 times until he was getting a good even finish, sanding horizontally. Reading and searching threads on here, it sounds like sanding and also sharpening the leading edges on the keel and leading edge above the prop shaft is very important. Also what do you guys suggest for keeping filings/ debris out of the low water pickups?
