Drive spacer install question - loctite
hey all, I’m installing a spacer in the drive. The directions that came with said use loctite 272. I can only find 271 locally. I’d really like to get it installed tomorrow (for many reasons) so don’t really have time to order 272. Can 271 be used? Or should I just try to figure out how/when to install it after I order 272? Help please. Thanks!

What drive and what do they want loctite on?
|
Bravo 1, on the longer studs I have to install
|
The 271 will be fine. Its virtually the same as 272 according to the specs. Both are red and heated to get apart.
That being said, I never used any loctite on my studs with a drive spacer and never had any issues. Personally, the most I'd use is some blue loctite, I think its 242??? |
Never used any. I replace the nylocks after 2 times on and off

Thanks guys!

This stuff works on anything.. A little on the threads acts as mild locktite and also works as an anti-seize. Works Particularly well on Exhaust Riser studs or bolts.

I generally use the red loctite on the threads screwed into the case to keep it from unscrewing when I remove the nyloc nuts. If I had a problem removing the studs I use a MAP torch to warm them up and with a stud puller they come right out. I have removed at least a hundred of them..
Hope that helps. Dick |
