I'm looking to replace my old Bravo 3 X drives (ratio 2.0) to a set of newer ones. I found a pair with 1.81 gear ratio that looks to be a good purchase. I'm currently spinning 26" bravo props (standard 3 X 3 blades) and I figure I might need to switch to 24".

Are there any (other) down sides to go from 2.0 to 1.81? WOT speed is around 55 mph. The boat is a Formula 370 SS.
