Who is everyone recommending for rebuilds nowadays? AADS, Teague, Max Machine Works, other?

Application: 500efi Top Gun

What gear set, XZ or XR?

Friends have had really good success with AADS, Warranty the work and good turn around time. They also tell you exactly what you are getting. Plus with 500EFI, its not like you are stretching the power limits. The only problem is the weight of the gun. Guys running the X Gears have had really good success. As a low price option.

As far as XZ vs XR

XZ is Helical Cut Gears, Finer Tooth on top. Might gain 1-2 MPH, they are more efficient. (they do create more heat)

XR is Straight Cut and Net Forged, Square cut Tooth, Stronger

Problem is that for a while their was a line of XR gears going around that must have had some problems. They weren't lasting at all. I haven't heard those horror stories in a while. Either way I think you would be fine with either or even the X with the 500 EFIs. Just for piece of mind, it would be nice to go with a shop that gives you a warranty. Those are just my thoughts. Good luck. i am sure others will chime in

I used George at AADS with good results. The only hangup was getting gear sets from Merc. Hopefully they have their distribution problems solved.

As stated above the weight of the Gun is the biggest enemy of the Bravo drives.

thanks for the feedback. I have already been in contact with AADS and Teague. Unfortunaley Mr Gadgets is at capacity.

I had had been talking to Goerge about a Phase I with cryo and XR gears. The cost and turnaround were both reasonable.
