Default Mercury Bravo vs Volvo Penta DPH upper gear

Had a chance to compare the Bravo 1X upper gears to a Volvo Penta DPH upper gears. Noticeable difference in size of gears. Both use clutch cone for shifting. The DPH is mated to a 370 hp diesel.

DPH left, Bravo 1 right

I had a few XR drive boats and now a boat with those DPH drives (Formula 400ss). They are meaty for sure! Look at the power running through them....no way an XR would last long with nearly 1,000 ft/tq in front of them. (and the DPH drive takes 1.5 GALLONS of gear lube.)
