I have a 1997 Bravo 3, will a lower unit off a 2002 Bravo 2 bolt right on?

but why??????? isnt a bravo 2 for diesels and deeper than a bravo one ?? Check the gear ratio as well....

Yes, and as a side note the Bravo III will bolt onto a Bravo I. Watch the gear ratio depending on where you get your drives from.
