There is a small hole in the end of the SS sleeve of the indicator, and one in the black plunger/rod. It’s pretty easy to see.
Trim the drive all the way out, and push the plunger in with your hand. Insert a medium sized nail through the sleeve and aligned hole thru the plunger. Then release the plunger. The spring loaded plunger will hold the nail in there.

Just trim drive up and remove the T clamps when the plunger is fully extended. The plunger is screwed to the morse cable and nothing will fall out.
A word of warning......The T clamps can gall the threads easily due to them being stainless. Put a little oil/grease on the threads when you reassemble.
