Default Bravo 1 drive oil leaking in bilge

drive oil leaking in bilge. not quite sure where it's coming from. I checked the reservoir and it seems to be intact along with the hose as far as I can reach. I suspect the hose is leaking on the transom mount. anyone else have any ideas? thanks.

I can only think of one thing…carrier seal where Input shaft goes into drive.

best way to check that with a bore scope camera without having to take the drive off? my engines are very tight by transom can't get my fat head back there or arm

Check real close under and around the bottle (white dry paper towel). If there is a film of oil on it, then the cap or bottle may be leaking

I have checked the hose and bottle throughly I don't believe that they are leaking. after this weekend I'm going to pull the drive and inspect the seals. I did pull the bottle off the hose and blow into the hose. did not hold pressure.

Not sure if they are still being built this way but years ago I had this issue. As it turned out it was the fitting on the transom assembly where the hose from the reservoir attaches. It was in my case a, what I will call a quick connect, that was the problem. Replaced that and all was good.

I think I am having the same problem. (God I hope not) if it is this problem I have to pull the motor to get to it. they are tucked way back in there no way to access it with the motor in.

conducting an experiment tonight. I filled the reservoir back to its correct position, tomorrow after work I'm going to check the tank. would the oil still leak through the gimbal with out running? or would it only be able to leak through the hose or transom fitting?
thanks.

Mine was bad where the wires come out of the reservoir bottle.
