Default Bravo 2 lower busted! Switch to Bravo 1 or 3

Needing input. 28’ Carver Express cruiser 9’ beam. Single 454 and currently a Bravo 2. Case cracked on me. Friend gave me an almost new Bravo 1 lower case, as well as bearing retainers, shafts and various components. I know the Bravo 1 won’t swing the big ass prop I’ve got on my Bravo 2, but with prices going higher everyday, would I be better to build the Bravo 1 I have or would I be giving up to much. Want a Bravo 3 as that seems to work better on cruisers but have the Bravo 1 case ready to go. Advice please

You would be much happier with a Bravo 3 on your boat.

Agree B3 would be better
Also not all B lowers will swap with the upper. The early years there were issues

Default Good advice

Thank you for your input. Guess I’ll be on the search for a Bravo 3 that fits my budget. If anyone has one they are willing to part with hit me up

I have a near brand new B3 gears lower which didn't work for my repower (XR upper). Used it for maybe an hour run time before I removed and replaced with my 2.0 lower (16/27). Been sitting ever since on a dolly for a few years. Have now taken it apart to count gears but think its a 18/25 making it a 1.65 ratio

Sell for 4200 plus ship, and will look closer to verify ratio

I have a Bravo 3X, upper & lower complete drive. 1.81:1 ratio. Clean inspection & drive service ~ 20 hours ago. LOTO, $3,000.

DM for details.

Can't you get an entire bravo 1 lower (aftermarket w/a 3 year no matter what warranty) for like $1100 new?

https://www.sterndrive.cc/Mercruiser...ower-Only.html

I know I plan to if I ever need a lower. I broke up a cav plate on mine, and if it ever bugs me enough, am thinking I'd go this route.

I wish SEI would make a whole bravo setup.
