Default Faster: Bravo One VS XR

Is there any proof of the Bravo 1 being faster than the XR? Has anyone upgraded gear sets and saw a loss in speed?
I ran 3mph slower with an XR while doing same day testing.

3mph seems excessive, but I lost about 1 mph when I went from a regular Bravo Upper to an IMCO SC upper on my Pantera. From what I have heard, the XR gears take more hp to spin, but not the amount that should cost 3mph.

"Faster" is a confusing way to think about this. If the drive ratio and prop size are the same, then the XR straight cut gears do take more HP to spin the same RPM. So, in this instance the standard Bravo with cross cut gears will be "faster" since the XR gears would be robbing you of RPM.

I have XR's in front of my 496's and it is 3 MPH slower than a B1 496 with the same drive ratio and prop at WOT.

I switched from a single standard Bravo to an Xr on my Formula Fastech and lost roughly 3 mph.
