Alpha One - Replace Shift Shaft Seal
Our family bow rider ski/tubing boat has a slow leak coming from the shift shaft seal. How hard it this to replace?
Leaking is from # 36 in diagram https://www.mercruiserparts.com/bam/...30862/2686/160 |
This is how i have done several.
kinda funny, sent this vid to close (in person) friend today also. Lol. Guess ‘tis the season :) |
I use same method for small bearings , bushings, and such in other items too / snowblower, snowmobiles, etc :)

Replacing the shift shaft seal on a boat can be a relatively straightforward process, but the level of difficulty can vary depending on the specific make and model of your boat and the location of the seal.

Take a look at the diagram I linked, my seal is leaking gear oil. It looks like there is a complete housing available, but I can't find any info on changing it. https://nuwavemarine.com/mercruiser-...-23-815921a20/ |
Oh, sorry. My bulb glows dim. :)
i have not done that one. Quick search i found this: Alpha I Gen II shift shaft seal replacement | Club Sea Ray Hipe that helps or gives you a start |
