Default Prep & painting lower

Besides sand/prime/paint has anyone tried media blasting to remove old paint vs sanding? Also any options beside OEM merc products? Boat sets in fresh water and I get some corrosion(?) near prop area. 2 part or epoxy paint and how well does it hold up?

thanks

Ive used media blasting on some before, basically crushed fine glass. It worked great and we did a good etching primer followed with a Imron single stage paint. I saw the boat last year and it still looks great. Those 2 lowers were done about 6 yrs ago.

No matter what I've done for prep the merc rattle can drive paint and primer always blows off. I'd use a 2 part epoxy, imron, or something that is good assuming it's below the cavitation plate. The merc stuff works fine above it but who the heck really needs to paint above it.
